Classes

All teachers at Pines Iyengar Yoga are Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers and Certified Yoga Therapists. You can expect classes that are fun, grounding, and highly individualized. Please wear clothing that allows freedom of movement. You’re welcome to join in person or online—both options are available. All props are provided in the studio, and online students can be guided on how to obtain their own props.

Hello, I’m Asha, the main teacher at Pines Iyengar Yoga.My journey began after two car accidents one week apart, which left me with muscle spasms, pain, and fatigue. At my physiotherapist’s recommendation, I turned to Iyengar yoga for recovery. Within a few sessions, I began to regain strength and stability—and discovered a more grounded, healthier version of myself. This sparked my ongoing passion for the therapeutic power of yoga and eventually led to my certification as an Iyengar Teacher.At Pines Iyengar Yoga, all classes follow the Iyengar tradition, offering a safe, structured approach for all levels.

The Iyengar Method
The Iyengar Method is a structured approach to yoga known for its precision, attention to detail, and intelligent use of props that make poses more accessible. Classes are carefully sequenced to progressively build strength, flexibility, stamina, concentration, and proper body alignment. This method was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar over several decades as he refined his teaching and practice into a clear, therapeutic system of yoga.

B. K. S. Iyengar is widely recognized for bringing yoga to the Western world. He presented yoga in a way that students could readily understand, experience, and integrate into their daily lives. Through the innovative use of props, he made yoga accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and body types. His pioneering work in the therapeutic application of yoga also demonstrated its potential to support health, healing, and overall well-being.

Asha is very passionate about the practice and that's what makes her a good yoga instructor.
During every session she makes it her point of duty to address any physical aches you might be having, her instructions are easy to follow and during each pose she makes sure you're comfortable.
Asha is very knowledgable about yoga, she is always able to tell you the advantages of a specific pose (I appreciate that). I've always had a good time in yoga class and I've always felt physically and mentally relaxed after each class.
